Artist statement

Collage is the technique that can most fully describe the modern reality. Our minds are overloaded with layers of information. Everyone can express his opinion, which exists simultaneously in the same space of time. Collage is an expression of this principle: different materials constitute a composition of various meanings. Old and new, stylish and kitschy, bright and monochrome — all this builds up a harmonious reality of the modern world.

The primary artistic method is the visual rhyme. For example, objects can have similar forms, or intersect in terms of composition, while being absolutely in contrast in their meanings. This allows the viewer to contemplate about the difference between the depicted objects, whether they have nothing to do with each other, or if they actually belong together. That’s where the irony sets in.
